- Win first club title
David Lilley
At the end of a week where practice was restricted by the bad weather, I managed to beat the compounds at the Chichester Bowmen club championships and claim my first club title there. I scored only 592 for a FITA 70m in sometimes wet and breezy conditions. The wind shear affected the arrows more than the archers. In a close competition I led all the way but never by more than eight points, eventually winning by four. I didn't do so well in the handicap head-to-head as despite racking up 103 points for the 12 arrow pass, I still lost out on the handicap system.
I think I can do better though. I had several yips to the left and this was due to poor setting of the bow shoulder. Next time it will be better - hopefully in better weather too.
Today was an interesting test mentally which I largely passed. Groups were good if not quite in the right place with the few yips left. More practice of these pressure situations will be needed.
