Outdoor title no.5 in the wind and rain

    David Lilley

It may have been wet and very windy, but it didn't stop me from shooting well (especially on the windier second day) and claiming outdoor title number five.

On Saturday, it rained all morning but it was at our backs thankfully and the wind shear was something I've never experienced. The arrows were nearly turning right in the strong crosswind. It dried out a bit in the afternoon but the wind remained. I scored 961 (a miss at 100y) which was good going.

On the second day, it was even windier but it was almost dry with only a couple of quick showers in the morning. I scored 1004 which was worth about 100 points more in the conditions. After allowing for the winds and the rain it is probably my best one day performance in a tournament. However, both days' 60 yards sets were disappointing. I seem to have problems at nearer distances setting the bow shoulder but this will be worked on. Overall, a very good weekend.
