- 12 arrow pass record finally regained
David Lilley
I shot at the 70m Fita Fest at Ampthill this weekend. The weather was largely good with light to moderate winds and some showers on Saturday and light winds and sunshine on Sunday. I didn't do very well on both days' 70m rounds scoring only 556 and 564. I scored a meagre 90 for the Saturday head to head. I rescued what was a pretty bad weekend by scoring 96 in the head to head today. I did the donkey work on the first end in getting 53 and then tried to throw it away with two 5's with the first two arrows of the second end of six. I turned it around and regained the record I last had two years ago at the same tournament. I am still having trouble transferring my club form to tournaments. After today's lunchtime practice, I started to group much better and even with the 43 end on the head to head it was consistent. I need to be careful how I set up the bow arm. For this week, in the lead-up to the Double Fita Star at Ampthill next weekend, I will try to re-create how I shot so well during the winter. I've been off the boil pretty much since early March. Time to get back to top form consistently.
