- UK record no. 13 - but it should have been better
David Lilley
I went to the Nationals tournament at Biggleswade today and shot a New National UK record of 455 - but I should have done alot better than that. In a light to moderate crosswind I had a terrible start as my ightmarks were miles out for some unknown reason. It took two and a half dozen arrows before I got going. After that I was fine back nearly to Friday's form - except for one comical moment.
It was during the penultimate end at 80 yards and I saw an arrow go all the way into the middle of the gold. Then I saw I had hit the next target on the line. Of the other five that went in the correct target, four were in the gold. I didn't half get some stick for that! I've never done that before but I had a good laugh about it.
Of more concern was the slow start again at 100 yards. This is a mental problem which will get sorted. My bow shoulder was wrongly positioned as a result hence the bad start. I dropped at least 70 points as a result and that is being conservative. Next time I'll do better.
