- 349 @ 30m - then bow breaks
David Lilley
This week I've been shooting at 50m and 30m in the fading light trying to sort out why I get the 'leftward drift' which is now the major score destroying fault I have. Tonight I seem to have found the answer. The problem seems to be my thumb torquing the bow. To beat this I decided to radically alter the grip to one any coach will want to alter immediately. The arrow platform is now gripped between the thumb and the index finger for the entire shot. The result is that the leftward drift has gone. As soon as I worked this out in one practice end, I did a 36 arrow set at 30m and scored a PB of 349 which is GMB standard. My ends were 59,59,58,60, 55(?) and 58. Then the cable guard seemed to ping out of position so the bow is now unshootable, joining the XT.
I am naturally very pleased to have got the 349 but I will now have to get up to the Merlin factory tomorrow to sort out the two bows.
