- First UK Indoor title secured
David Lilley
It's been a while coming but I finally got the indoor title after shooting an OK 528 for the Fita 18m at Lilleshall this weekend. I was pretty consistent for the dozen scores. I got 105 every dozen except for 108 on the last one. However it doesn't show that the quality was variable to say the least. I had a less than brilliant start and then I really got me act together until I had a shock in the middle where I had a couple of really bad ends. This was due to finding, by accident, that another archer shooting Limited Compound was beating me pretty easily which affected me quite a bit. It was only after finding out and pointing out to the judges that this archer was shooting Unlimited style that they got re-classified and so I got back on a even keel and finished well. I ended up with twelve maximums which is the most I've done since scoring 543 in January. Next year I'll be back to do better. It was good to see the defending 2004 & 2005 champion, Ian Trout, again. Hopefully I'll see him around at a few tournaments this year.
With the indoor season over - the UK's was the only time I shot indoors this winter - I will now put the Max2000 back in storage and turn to the XT for the outdoor season. The target now is to close in on the best - the Americans.
