- A very useful weekend
David Lilley
For the first time this winter I've been able to shoot Friday, Saturday and Sunday and it's been one of the best practice weekends I've ever had. I have shot better but in terms of hunting down flaws and fixing them I am definitely doing that. There is still more work to do but the big step forward is that I have found and cured the killer 9 o'clock red error caused simply by the bow shoulder. There are still other errors like dropping the bow arm and not setting the draw shoulder properly but all errors are now definitively identified and are being worked on. I shot at 60m over the first two days in sometimes windy conditions but on Sunday in still conditions I shot at 18m and although I didn't keep score I reckon I was shooting in the 530's for the 18m round quite easily which is the best I've done in quite a few years. This is down purely to hunting down the errors and as a result severely limiting the horizontal spread of arrows I usually get at indoor distances.
Next weekend sees the EFAA Indoor Championships but with the long range forecast being snow it is not a certainty I will be going to Chelmsford. We'll see.
